Common braking methods for electric motors

Electric motor braking refers to the technical means of rapidly decelerating or stopping the motor by applying reverse torque, mainly divided into two categories: electromagnetic braking and mechanical braking. Electromagnetic braking utilizes motors to generate reverse electromagnetic torque, including three basic methods: energy consumption braking, reverse connection braking, and feedback braking. It has the characteristics of large braking torque and convenient operation. Mechanical braking achieves rapid braking after power failure through devices such as electromagnetic brakes and electromagnetic clutches. It is commonly used in the field of lifting machinery and has the characteristics of accurate positioning but large volume.
